Portrait Machine is a perforating machine that punches binary data from Facebook profile images into paper.

In September 2011, Facebook had 800 million members world-wide. Many of them use portraits as profile images. Through the Facebook API computer programs may access these.

My application downloads image data from Facebook profiles. The binary codes behind these images are sorted according to color information (red, green, blue and transparency) and sent to a microcontroller. The microcontroller uses the data to control the behavior of the Portrait Machine.

The Portrait Machine thus creates new images from Facebook profile images.
