Footsteps Canon is an interactive sound installation which is activated by walking action of people. When people walk on the catwalk, sensors react to the footsteps, and make the electric sounds which imitate the walking rhythm emit from the speaker system. You will feel as if your own footsteps are following you. The electric footstep sounds are stored in the computer and looped. As more and more people walk, they will form music with three-dimensional effect. The rhythm adopted by this system is two-beat, which is the basic beat when people walk with two legs. The walking rhythm differs from person to person, so when many people’s walking patterns accumulate, density of the music is obtained. The primitive two-beat music has cosmic mood, and resembles an African music.
